What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind we are all in at least a few times every day.  It can be described as a relaxed but very focused state, in which the subconscious mind can more readily be communicated with to change beliefs, habits and other behaviors. Hypnosis was approved as a modality by the American Medical Association in 1958, and has a long history of use in the control of pain, habit/behavior change, pre- and post-surgery use, and the abatement of anxieties, PTSD and more.

Hypnosis is safe and effective when used by a well-trained and qualified hypnotherapist.

Client Centered and Medical Hypnosis Training

Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy trainings leading to certifications are offered by Cindy Locher and Jody Kimmell through Normandale Community College.  The Diversified Client Centered Hypnotherapy model that we teach is based on the work of Roy Hunter and (the late) Charles Tebbetts.  This training is directed toward healthcare and mental health professionals seeking to add clinical / medical hypnotherapy to their skill sets for use with their patients in practice.

Self Hypnosis classes (Self Hypnosis, Self Hypnosis for Weight Loss, Self Hypnosis for Pain Control) are open to the general public and are offered either through Normandale Community College or directly at ChangeWorks Hypnosis Center in Apple Valley, MN.
