...No Matter What Your Sport Is

"I had really lost my swing.  My handicap was going up and I just couldn't get back to my old swing!" Greta F., Roseville, Mn

What Would You Like To Achieve in Your Sport?

Athletic Mental Conditioning with hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) is used by many professional and amateur athletes to enhance their performance and to enable them to perform in competition at their peak abilities.  These people know that the mental edge is the winning edge.

NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SPORT,  mental conditioning with hypnosis and NLP can help it better, enjoy it more fully and reach your hidden potential.  It is the Difference that makes the Difference.

  • Have you been frustrated by your ability to play well in a practice situation, only to see your performance decline in an actual game or competition?
  • Do you grow frustrated with your performance and not know how to get into a good frame of mind?
  • No matter how many technical skills you study, you have not reached the mastery you desire?

You know the answer is not physical.  The answer lies in your unconscious mind.

"After the first session, I shaved 4 strokes off my game.  My swing was back and after 3 sessions, I'm back to hitting in the 80's. Thanks, Cindy!" Greta F., Roseville, MN

Cindy Locher, CH, CSH provides mental conditioning for sports performance to adult amateur athletes.  Cindy is a qualified Consulting Hypnotist and holds a Certification in Sports Hypnosis from NESTA (National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association). She is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists.

Here's what The Golfmeister Tim Flaherty says about sports hypnosis with Cindy Locher:

"Yesterday I felt like I really/really got into Hogan's mind and understand better now after 30 years of searching how to master myself for golf...the anchor you taught me does work...I'm on auto-pilot now-no more thinking my way thru my golf swing....I'm hitting 9 greens within 12 feet now...yes, I think your approach does help!"

What Sports Hypnosis Can Do For You

Would you like to achieve the following:

  • Eliminate the mental clutter that ruins your game
  • Be calm and focused in competition
  • Increase your consistency
  • Shave strokes off your golf game
  • Learn why HOW you think is more important that anything else, and HOW should you think?
  • How to get into a light state of hypnosis before every game, every shot--just like Tiger Woods does.

This is custom hypnosis with a trained professional, not a generic tape or CD that's mass produced and one-size-fits-all.  Come to me with a list of specific things you want to improve about your performance, and together we will eliminate your problem areas, releasing your reactions to specific triggers. Learn to eliminate emotional reactions that just set you up for poor performance.

Learn to be your own best friend in your sport, not your own enemy!

Who Uses Sports Mental Conditioning?

Recently in the news:  The Pittsburgh Steelers used sports hypnosis in preparation for Super Bowl 43.  Levi Leipheimer, the Tour of California cyclist, has been using sports hypnosis since 2006.  Of course Tiger Woods has used hypnosis for years, since about the age of 13. Michael Jordan used hypnosis.  It was part of the Chicago Bull's game preparation routine.  See the article below for more information.

Sports Performance and Hypnosis

By Tom Nicoli, BCH, CI

When it comes to all the myths and misconceptions about hypnosis there is one group of people who have used the power of hypnosis for sports improvement... athletes. Athletes use what has been referred to as guided imagery or visualization techniques. This is exactly the process of self hypnosis.

There is a timeless saying "what the mind believes the body achieves." Using hypnosis or self hypnosis engages this process for we first see and do in our mind whatever it is we desire to achieve, which begins to create the deep belief it is possible and then we have an increased chance of actually achieving what we first created mentally. Using the subconscious mind to engage in the imagery and created visualization of what we desire has been written about in cultures around the world since there has been documentation.  It's not new and athletes use it routinely. Golf legend Jack Nicklaus once said, "Golf is a game of inches. The most important seven are between your ears."

Here are just a few athletes who used self hypnosis for sports performance:

Angela Bailey, the current Canadian Record Holder in the 100 meters. She holds the record in a time of 10.98 seconds.

Tiger Woods has acknowledged the fact that he turns to hypnotherapy to calm his mind and improve his focus before every game he plays. In fact he is said to have been practicing it ever since he was 13.

Kevin McBride, a heavyweight boxer who beat Mike Tyson for the championship. "A lot of athletes use only 2% to 8% of their ability at any given time," said McBride. "What hypnosis does is send out signals to the subconscious mind that makes you leave nothing behind."

Michael Jordan used hypnosis. It was a regular part of The Chicago Bull's preparation, because of Phil Jackson, the head coach, who believed strongly in mental stamina.

The list of athletes who use and have used hypnosis as the way to strengthen the most important part of any sport performance, the mental part of the game, is a long list. The easiest and most effective practice that takes place is before the field, track, course, court or ice rink… is in the athletes mind. Hypnosis helps with the outcome as the athlete first sees it in pre-game preparation but it also allows the athlete to be more relaxed, which in turn allows for improved sports performance. When an athlete is in a slump it's not because they forgot their skills and how to play their sport, they lost their mental edge. The mental edge is maintained and
strengthened through the subconscious techniques of hypnosis where the athlete is guided into the process by a facilitator or done alone as self hypnosis.

Any athlete in any sport, whether on a team or playing alone has any better tool in their arsenal to
improve athletic performance than hypnosis. The team that is best on paper based on statistics and odds isn't necessarily the winner, which is why the game is played. It's the team or player with the mental edge that can rise above to the winner's circle. Just ask the champions and superstars of their sport.
